Weekly Update from the Superintendent

April 27, 2022

Dear students, staff, families and community,

As we are engaging in the busyness of spring and looking forward to our more traditional end of the year events, we are also planning for the 2022/23 school year.  Our calendar is on the School Board Meeting agenda tomorrow, April 28 at 6:00 p.m. for approval. It will be shared on our website the following day. The first day of school for first through twelfth graders will be Wednesday, August 31.  The first day for Kindergarten and Pre-school will be September 6.  Our Wednesday 90-minute early releases will not begin until October 5.  We are looking forward to a more traditional school year with minimal disruptions!

The Southfork Valley Community Association is working to increase local youth and family programing.  They would like input from families via two surveys.  Please share your input through the surveys that are applicable to your family or organization.  Here are links to a Youth Activity Survey and a Youth Activity Provider Survey.

I would like to share a great learning opportunity.  This Saturday a Nooksack Tribal member will be reading an indigenous story about salmon, and then leading an activity for children grades K-5. It’s all through Zoom and free of charge.  Here is a link to register and participate in this amazing learning experience.

We are celebrating Administrative Professionals Appreciation Week!  Our schools and departments are welcoming places due to all these staff members do to serve our students, staff, and families.  Thank you to all of our Administrative Professionals!

If you missed the on-line Mount Baker Plant Sale, you can still shop for plants in person this Friday, April 29 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. and/or Saturday, April 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Here is a link with all the information you need.  Happy spring planting!

Go Baker!
