Dear Mount Baker families,
In order to provide more opportunities for our students, school districts in Whatcom County are working together to try and bring a skills center to Whatcom County. Currently, the closest skills center is Northwest Career & Technical Academy (NCTA) in Mount Vernon.
While NCTA provides fantastic opportunities for our students, it can also be challenging to attend due to the distance. It is our hope to bring a skills center to Whatcom County that would not only provide our high school students with a variety of career opportunities, but it would also positively impact our community.
Students enrolled in skills centers receive free technical and professional training in a variety of fields including but not limited to fire science, welding, animation and graphic design, applied medical science, criminal justice, dental assisting, veterinary assisting and video game development.
