Weekly Update from the Superintendent

Dear students, staff, families and community,

We are celebrating our classified employees this week for Education and Support Professionals Week.  A big thanks for all they do for our students, staff, and families!  This includes our bus drivers, mechanics, custodians, maintenance, child nutrition staff, secretaries, para-educators, nurses, technicians, and family service coordinators.

Congratulations to the Mount Baker FFA Ag Mechanic Team!  They placed 1st this week in the Burlington-Edison career development event.  Drake Pinkey was high individual, Case Heutink 2nd and Wyatt Freeman 3rd.  Merrick Kelley and Kelsi Anderson also placed in the top 10.

I enjoyed visiting Kendall Elementary’s STEAM night.  Students were engaging in fun activities involving science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.  Thank you to the Kendall PTA for making this fun experience happen for students.

Music Night in March features our Mount Baker Choir at 6:30 p.m. and the Mount Baker Band at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday, March 16.  Please join us in the Mount Baker High School Auditorium for this free concert.

Just a reminder that if you are interested in applying for the open District 1 School Board Director Position, applications are due this Thursday, March 16 by 4:00 p.m.

We have updated the 2022/23 calendar on our website.  June 16 is now our last day of school.  Graduation will be June 8.

I am looking forward to my first parent advisory meeting tonight with nine parents.  Their willingness to volunteer their time to engage in important conversations about our District is appreciated.

Have a wonderful evening!

Sincerely,

Mary Sewright, Superintendent
