Weekly Update from the Superintendent

Dear students, staff, families and community,

Baker is off to a great start!  Our first week was amazing!  The positive energy and engagement have been wonderful.  We started off this week welcoming our Kindergarten and Pre-school students to school.  The enthusiasm of our youngest learners is absolutely delightful.  Your support has helped make this a successful launch to the 2022/23 school year!

Just a friendly reminder of the importance of attendance as well as keeping our students healthy and in school.  We are still under COVID-19 Guidance, so please keep your student home if they are sick or showing symptoms of COVID-19.  We want to avoid quarantines and remote learning as much as possible.  This flow-chart has helpful guidance to follow for anyone showing symptoms or testing positive for COVID-19.  You can find resources for vaccinations here. Let’s keep Baker healthy!

A big thank you to our transportation team!  They are working hard to cover routes in a timely and efficient manner despite our shortage of drivers.  We do have some late buses, so thank you for your understanding.  If you or anyone you know is interested in becoming a bus driver, please visit our Careers with Mount Baker School District page to apply.  We would love to welcome new team members!

Our fall athletic programs are in full swing.  We encourage you to attend events to support our student athletes who have an outstanding reputation for their positive attitudes and sportsmanship.  You can visit the Mount Baker Athletics page on our website for more information and schedules.  Our first football home game is this Friday at 6:00 p.m.  Let’s fill our stadium with fans to support our Mountaineers!

Go Baker!

Sincerely,

Mary Sewright, Superintendent
